Congratulations to member James who bravely decided to climb the ‘Three Peaks’ in order to donate funds to the MCF charity.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis, 1,345m), England (Scafell Pike, 978m), and Wales (Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon, 1,085m) within 24 hours.

Not without drama, whilst undergoing his rigorous training plan, he had to undergo medical treatment for a training injury to his calf muscle and was advised to postpone the challenge.
Determined to achieve his goal he rearranged the date and set off with his friend.
Unfortunately half way up Scafell Pike more drama was to unfold. James’ friend broke his ankle and Mountain Rescue was called for. Bravely, James’ friend told him to continue to the top which James did and met up with his friend on the way down still waiting to be rescued! It wasn’t long before the broken ankle was dealt with at West Cumberland Hospital and repaying the friendly gestures James spent the night trying to sleep in a chair at his mate’s bedside.
Arrangements were made for the patient’s trip home but James had a 04.00am early start and completed the climb up and down Snowden before making his own way home to the arms of his waiting family.

Admitting it was the hardest thing he had ever done he was pleased to have met his goal albeit that he ached all over.
We are glad to report that after 24 hours rest he was feeling much more like himself!(so much so that attended the GPC and LOI!)
WELL DONE, JAMES!!!
