2023 saw the 75th Anniversary of the consecration of the Royal Sovereign Light Lodge No. 6630. To celebrate this momentous occasion special presentations were given in the Bexhill Masonic Centre to members and their partners and related the history from the beginning to the present day. There were displays showing many original items and lots of photographs taken over the years.

Interweaved with the actual presentation was music from each decade so those present heard Vera Lynn, Elvis Presley, Tammy Wynette, Abba, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Keane, Randy Newman and Paul Harvey accompanied by the BBC Philarmonic Orchestra. Something for all ages and often feet tapping by many.

Eyes opened wide at the cost of 1948 grocery items, the cost of motor cars, vacuum cleaners and other household goods. Again each decade was represented by a further and wider range of facts and figures.

This part of the event concluded with Max Bygraves reflecting on the changes over those years with lots of memories that struck a chord from times gone by with many there. Some are still singing along with the catchy tune!!!

Those attending then made their way to the celebratory dinner which was held at the Cooden Beach Golf Club.
The three courses, as chosen by individuals, were well presented and met with everyone’s approval.

Informal speeches and thanks were shared before the ladies were presented with a beautiful long stemmed white rose and a small gift. The men were given an engraved masonic whisky glass as a permanent reminder of the anniversary.

In his closing comments the WM shared a well known saying that ‘Those who eat together, stay together’ May it long be true……..
