On the 8TH JANUARY 2025, Deputy ProvGM Tony Flint, accompanied by some of Harry Waddingham’s close Masonic friends, attended his home to present him with his 70th Year Certificate.
Harry was born in Ireland on 16th October 1916, joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16, where he saw active service throughout World War Two.
Being the ripe old age of 108, Harry is an Encyclopedia of knowledge. Particularly when it comes to surviving at sea, being torpedoed and bombed on two separate occasions, where both ships were sunk.
He told us about his invitation to join Freemasonry whilst working as a teacher at the Archbishop Tennyson’s school in London and memories of his Initiation from over 70 years ago.
On behalf of the ProvGM of Sussex Freemasonry Christopher Moore, Deputy ProvGM Tony Flint presented Harry with his Certificate and very rarely achieved Lapel badge.
Congratulating him on his Platinum Jubilee, after being Initiated into Archbishop Tennyson Lodge No 5163, London, on the 11th day of December 1954 Tony expressed his amazement.
Many congratulations to W.Bro Harry, a well respected member of the community, a good Christian and our longest serving Sussex Freemason.
