‘Let there be light!’

Following a donation to buy items from the crew’s wish-list the Worshipful Master and the Charity Steward met with the Coxswain of Eastbourne Lifeboat to formally present the torch they had selected.

There are 4 torches on the All Weather Lifeboat, ‘Diamond Jubilee’ and 4 spares held in reserve for immediate restocking the lifeboat after a shout. Simialarly there are 3 torches on the Inshore Lifeboat, ‘Lawrence and Percy Hobbs’ and 3 reserves.
These powerful torches are used to search when on call-outs in twilight or night time conditions.

A subsequent donation meant that another torch could be purchased meaning both boats would be well provided for in their much valued voluntary work saving lives.
