Yesterday saw the start of the Royal Sovereign Light Lodge’s ‘Reach Out into the Community’ project. Over the next few weeks, and matching last year’s amount of funding, the Officers will be making a variety of donations to local charities.
To get the ball rolling the WM, the Secretary and the Grand Officer met in the glorious grounds of the Highwoods Golf Club to meet Michael Lear, Chair of the Sarah Lee Trust.
He told us how the work of the therapists, staff, volunteers and his fellow Trustees inspires him in leading the charity into the future, building upon the hard work and achievements of all those who have put their time, energy and commitment to such great effect since its establishment in 1996, in the memory of Sara Lee. The trust supports people in Hastings and Rother who have been diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing free counselling, complementary therapies and group activities specifically designed to work alongside medical treatment.
This year’s Worshipful Master then happily presented him with a cheque for £250 which will help the Charity carry on the good work they do and keep Sara’s vision alive.
